ARTIST STATEMENT
I make art because it calms me, especially when I'm stressed or when I have a lot on my mind. It's therapeutic. I'm really into photography, and every time I'm editing my photos I am doing more and more research about editing techniques and ways to become a better photographer. I'm doing senior portrait sessions right now and my goal for that is to get better each time. I want to find at least one area of improvement and work on that for the next session. After I'm the best I can be with senior photos, I want to advance into wedding photography, and any type of event that someone may need a photographer for.
I've created many series of photos before, and the common theme between most of them is color. I try to incorporate a common color theme between them all. The only materials I typically use for photography is simple. I use only one camera and then Photoshop. I occasionally use a tripod when needed, but most of my artwork doesn't require a tripod. A lot of my art relies heavily on Photoshop, as I like to do surrealism photography. I take a lot of pictures and put it all into one. I still have a long ways to go with that, but every time I get finished with one, I realize what I need to work on to make a stronger composition for my next piece.
My latest work consists mostly of portraits. I'm challenging myself to make portraits more creative and unique, also to show some personality through it. Each time I've done a senior portrait photo shoot, I've gotten more practice with it and each time I see more of my creative side showing through it. What I've realized is that lighting is the key to a good portrait. It makes or breaks the photo.
